SAP Console is a thin-client component developed by SAP AG that delivers SAP ERP transactions through a text-based interface for barcode scanners and rugged mobile devices. Running on a Windows server, it connects to SAP systems via RFC and communicates with devices over Telnet/VT100, enabling real-time execution of logistics and shop-floor tasks. Commonly used in Warehouse Management and Logistics Execution, it supports activities like picking, putaway, goods receipt, and cycle counting with streamlined, menu-driven screens optimized for minimal keystrokes and barcode input. Designed for forklifts and industrial terminals where full graphical interfaces or browsers are impractical, SAP Console centralizes administration and reduces device requirements. It also served as a precursor to SAP’s later ITS Mobile solution for RF data collection.
